Price and ownership

This is the main difference. QuickSay is $49, one-time, and that includes every future update. Wispr Flow charges $144 per year ($12/month billed annually, or $15 month to month) and offers no lifetime option at any price.

At $12 a month, QuickSay pays for itself in just over 4 months. Over three years the difference is $49 against $432. The gap keeps widening, because a subscription never stops and a purchase does.

On free tiers, Wispr Flow gives you 2,000 words per week. QuickSay works differently: it runs on your own free Groq account rather than a QuickSay plan, and Groq's free tier typically covers it.

Whose key, whose account

QuickSay uses your own API key for both speech recognition and cleanup. You create a free Groq account, paste the key in once, and your audio goes from your machine straight to Groq. There is no QuickSay server in the path.

Wispr Flow does not support bringing your own key. Your audio goes through Wispr's infrastructure on Wispr's account, which means the running cost and the terms are theirs to set. That is the normal arrangement in this category, and it is the thing QuickSay is built to avoid.

Privacy

QuickSay captures zero screen data, and anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting are off unless you switch them on. Audio is sent to Groq for transcription using your key. No screenshots or clipboard data are collected at any point.

Wispr Flow offers an optional "Context Awareness" feature that captures screen content to improve text cleanup, and it can be disabled in settings. QuickSay has no screen-capture code path at all. For anything else about Wispr Flow’s data handling, read their own privacy policy rather than ours.

Platform support

Wispr Flow wins here. It ships on Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. QuickSay runs on Windows 10 and 11 only, with no Mac, Linux or mobile version. If you move between a Mac and a phone during the day, Wispr Flow covers ground QuickSay does not.

Install size

QuickSay installs at about 101 MB, from a 29 MB download. Wispr Flow's install size is not publicly documented, so there is no comparison to draw here. QuickSay is built to stay light, with no bundled AI models.

Text cleanup

Both apps use AI to clean up raw transcription. QuickSay runs cleanup through Groq on your own key. Wispr Flow uses its proprietary Verbiflow engine. Both produce polished output from natural speech.
