Getting Started

Download and Install

  1. Download the installer from the download page (~105 MB).
  2. Run the .exe and follow the on-screen prompts. No admin privileges required.
  3. QuickSay appears in your system tray once installation completes.

Your First Dictation

Press the default hotkey to start recording:

Ctrl + Shift + Space

Speak naturally. When you release the hotkey (or press it again), QuickSay sends your audio to Groq Whisper for transcription, then runs it through LLaMA for cleanup. The finished text appears at your cursor in whatever app you’re using.

The entire round-trip typically takes under 500 milliseconds.

How It Works

  1. Record — Hold the hotkey. QuickSay captures audio from your default microphone.
  2. Transcribe — Audio is sent to Groq’s Whisper API for speech-to-text.
  3. Clean up — LLaMA processes the raw transcript: fixes punctuation, capitalization, filler words, and applies your custom dictionary.
  4. Insert — The polished text is pasted at your cursor via the clipboard.

System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • Internet: Required (Groq API)
  • Microphone: Any USB or built-in mic
  • Disk space: ~150 MB

Configuring Your Hotkey

Open the QuickSay settings from the system tray icon and navigate to the Hotkey section. You can assign any key combination that doesn’t conflict with your existing shortcuts.

API Key Setup

QuickSay uses Groq’s free tier by default. You can also bring your own API key:

  1. Sign up at groq.com and generate an API key.
  2. Open QuickSay settings and paste your key in the API Key field.
  3. Save and restart QuickSay.

The free tier provides generous daily usage. If you need more capacity, a paid Groq plan removes all limits.
